Saturday Market Events

Free Kid's Activities

First Saturday of Each Month

Hosted by Lisa Doray on the Community Center Lawn

August 23, 2008

Cort Armstrong and Ethan Lawton

Fans of the Seattle-based groups Janglebones and Blue Rooster will recognize Cort Armstrong in a heartbeat. Cort now lives in Dungeness outside of Sequim (above the future site of Nash's country store), and he continues to play his kickin' fingerstyle versions of Appalaichain country blues music and old-time tunes. He and mandoinist Ethan Lawton have a new duo which reaches back to traditional treatments of Carter Family tunes and other old-time folk music, although the two musicians are quite capable and willing to stretch some of their other favorite tunes with a driving rhythmic energy.

Geoffrey Castle

Geoffrey Castle is one of the most popular musicians to have performed at the PT Market - in 2007, he probably parted with more CDs than any other performer in the history of the market. His ethereal solo acoustic and electric violin compositions fill the air and captivate the crowd. And as shown in the photo above, taken by Julie Jaman last year, Geoffrey is also quite approachable and friendly. Aside from his solo work, folks may remember Geoffrey from his days as leader of the group Guarneri Underground.
